This might be the single biggest update ever since WeChat, the no.1 social media app in China with over 800 million MAU (monthly active users), has launched its advertising feature. westOeast is among the first few agencies been informed with this change. Don’t hesitate to contact us now for a head start.
Speaking of paid advertising options on WeChat, there are usually two major types:
- Display banners at the bottom of WeChat official account articles
- Moment ad (aka. in-feed ad) appearing on users timeline feed
This time, WeChat opens up to serve its widely preferable moment ad for overseas advertisers. Both video and text ads are supported. The launch option? Using WeChat official account self-service back-end dashboard – MP platform, or having us to help.
It’s more like the Facebook ad platform where you can log in, set up your targeting parameters including Age, Gender, Geo, etc. Similarly, to self-serve using WeChat MP platform and placing ads, you’ll need to have a verified WeChat official account. This is now included in the campaign set-up so you don’t have to worry about it anymore.
